statistics on what is going on in the world

from gas to emissions to recycling

this is pretty much going to be a reference page

My brother is a great debater. He might not always have the facts right but he ALWAYS argues with such conviction and passion that you can't help but believe him. I always get stuck in these 'discussions' with him that always end with me wishing I had hard evidence to back up my point of view. Luckily he is an earth friendly advocate so I don't have to convince him that global warming is real and that our natural resources are becoming scarce and that there are things that WE ALL can do to help. My hope is that having scientific facts to back up the bad things that are going on in the world will get more people interested in fixing all that is broken.

First off I want to direct you here it is the United Stated Environmental Protection Agency's website, specifically their page on climate change...a.k.a. global warming. Interestingly enough it is one of the first sites to pop up when you google global warming. I guess I find it most interesting because it is a government site...not to say that they don't lie but generally the info that they put out there for all the world to see has a more truthful meaning I think.

Things I can do to help the earth and
to feel better about myself :)

1. Be diligent about recycling. Most townships
or at least their recycling centers accept plastic, aluminum, cardboard, newspapers and mixed paper, telephone books, motor oil, etc.

2. Take your grocery bags back to the grocery
store on your next trip, almost all chain grocers have a plastic bag bin at the front of the store
on your way in.

3. Try not to buy individually wrapped items such as chips and animal crackers and gold fish, etc.
Buy a box and split them yourself into reusable containers. This will also save you a lot of money.

4. Start a compost in your backyard. Go HERE to
find out how. This way your naturally biodegradable waste items are being given back to the earth rather than thrown into a landfill inside a bag that won't biodegrade for hundreds of years.

5. When driving, combine trips and make sure your tires are always inflated properly. Under or over full tires use more gas and are dangerous.

6. Don't litter. It is as easy as that. Litter such as fast food containers and cigarette butts that are thrown on the ground get into our water supply, contaminate the earth and well, its just simply lazy and disgusting.

7. Put your sprinkler on a timer. This way when watering your lawn you won't forget to turn it off if you get busy doing other things.

8. STOP USING BOTTLED WATER! Talk about waste! Go HERE to see why it is so bad. Plus household tap is held to higher testing standards, therefore its safer for you. Use a tap filter and a refillable bottle to save money and the environment. If you need to use bottled water, buy the big multiple gallon jugs and put them in the fridge.
